By using reusable timing chips, we save hundreds of perfectly good tags from ending up in the landfill. Most do not consider where all these bib numbers and timing chips end up after race day. Sure a few end up on someone's wall, but a large majority end up in landfills.
Yes, we have to drive a gas vehicle to the race and use a gas generator on rare occasions. But our goal is to limit that level of impact as much as possible.
